a month's work to get as far.  Little car runs well too.  I went out with it for a trial after supper.  Rainy foggy weather

July 3. 1915. Spent much of morning with studying [[red underline]] Paulus preliminary estimate for power, coal and water. [[/red underline]] Charge two hours to R.B.Co.

Afternoon [[red underline]] Celine, Nina [[/red underline]] and I went over Sea Cliff in little car to Long-Island then to Huntington and finally Ronkonkoma Lake where we took supper at Petit Trianon. [[red underline]] Nina [[/red underline]] drove us back all along speedway and [[red underline]] drove very well. [[/red underline]] Then later on I drove till we came home at about 10:30 P.M. Had made 138 miles this afternoon.  Very enjoyable afternoon.  On the Sound we saw the big Yacht Races. (Sail Yachts for America Cup). Rather warm but not excessive.

July 4. (Sunday) Fair weather, not too warm

I learn that yesterday about time we were at Glen Cove a fanatic, [[red underline]] former professor of German, shot Morgan in attempting to [[/red underline]] kill him.
We drove out with big car which has been overhauled. [[red underline]] Tessie Middlebrook, [[/red underline]] Celine and Nina, Albert and I drove went to Lake Mahopac, then to Westpoint.
Beyond Peekskill, near a bridge there had been a serious car accident, occupants were transported to hospital and remains of the wrecked car near river.  We returned over Briarcliff Manor where we took supper.- beautiful hotel. Home about nine.

July 5. Violent rainstorms till afternoon then cool breezy weather. Remarkably little noise today.  This afternoon I started preparing my address for [[red underline]] Seattle. [[/red underline]]
