I find hotel expenses average about $25 [[underlined]] 00 [[/underlined]] a day for our four. Beautiful bright morning. Excellent roads first thru [[red underline]] Crawford Notch. [[/red underline]] a défilé thru the White Mountains. First passed the hotel then thru the woods Bartlett, Intervale, [[red underline]] North Conway [[/red underline]]. with [[red underline]] small summer hotels [[/red underline]] or boarding houses. Then at Fryeburg we enter [[red underline]] Maine [[/red underline]]. Roads less good here and somewhat dusty then at [[red underlined]] Naples [[/red underlined]] (pretty [[strikethrough]] little [[/strikethrough]] hotel recommended by Baedeker but did not stop) took short route to [[red underline]] Portland [[/red underline]] instead of going over Poland Springs Took lunch at wayside -- sardines
