Met [[red underline]] Frank Sprague [[/red underline]] at University Club and drove him to his house.  He read me a letter he [[red underline]] intends to send to Steinmetz [[/red underline]] berating him for his inconsistence if he accepts a position on [[red underline]] Naval advisory board [[/underlined]] because he is a pro-german and because he is [[strikethrough]] agr [[/strikethrough]] urging to stop sending ammunition to the Allies altho' employed by General Electric Co which is deriving considerable income from this class of manufactures.  In his letter he says [[red underline]] Pupin [[/red underline]] and [[red underline]] myself have wisely refrained from accepting to serve [[/red underline]]

Aug 15. (Sunday) Up early. Wrote and rewrote Seattle address until 2 P.M when I felt dizzy of it.  So ate a cheese sandwich and went to Nyack with car to see how [[red underline]] Cygnet [[/red underline]] is getting along.  Very warm and sultry. [[red underline]] Boat [[/red underline]] all painted and self starter is there now but not yet installed.  Drove back over [[strikethrough]] J [[/strikethrough]] Englewood road.  Took supper at a french [[strikethrough]] inn [[/strikethrough]] restaurant Villa Richards on [[red underline]] edge of Palisades. [[/red underline]] Unpleasant hole full of mosquitoes. Then
