[[/red underline]]  Evening met [[red underline]] Whitney and Parsons [[/red underline]] at Cosmos Club.  Spent most of afternoon correcting report of my address before Senate Committee.

March 25.  Met Prof. [[red underline]] Pupin [[/red underline]] at Cosmos Club, talked about conditions in Europe.  Went to Brickenstein, (Townsend away) to consult about contentives of Condensite Company.  Then

visited laboratory in reference to Hooker Electrochemical Co work, [[red underline]] outlined how to investigate action of Cl on weak alcoholic solutions. [[/red underline]]

Evening went as guest to [[red underline]] dinner of Society of Naval Engineers at Army and Navy Club. [[red underline]] Secretary [[red underline]] Daniels [[/red underline]] there, also Congressman Padget, chairman of Com. on Naval Affairs, also Senator Phelan of San Francisco, and representative Roberts of Massachusetts and several other Congressmen and senators and many naval officers.  I was placed ^[[very]] close to [[red underline]] Daniels and Padget [[/red underline]] in front of Dr. [[red underline]] Woodward [[/red underline]] [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] so that I could easily carry on conversation with any of them.  [[red underline]] Daniels [[/red underline]] in his speech lauding the work of the [[red underline]] Naval Board [[/red underline]] referring to the unity of action
