Club. ^[[M.R Hutchinson]] [[red underline]] He tells us that [[/red underline]] when he was a boy he was so much in admiration with [[red underline]] Edison [[/red underline]] that he made up his mind he was going to study and work with the exclusive purpose of becoming his chief engineer and right hand man.

Went to Club with [[red underline]] Webster [[/red underline]] and remained there till about 10 P.M. taking supper with [[red underline]] Peet, Carey Huchinson [[/red underline]] etc. On returning home am much astonished to see our hill all white with snow

April 9. (Sunday) More snow during the night and whole landscape is white and trees covered with snow. Beautiful sight. After lunch took [[red underline]] Webster [[/red underline]] to N.Y Central Station in New York then I remained for supper at Club

April 10 Busy with belated correspondence  Evening went for supper at Hooker's house. [[red underline]] Mrs. Hooker only lady [[/red underline]] the other men are friends of Hooker, one [[red underline]] Loullard our Yacht Broker, [[/red underline]] one [[red underline]] Barney [[red underline]] who looks like another [[red underline]] club man, one Dr. Lee ^[[surgeon]], brother of Robert [[/red underline]] Lee of Washington whom I know etc.  [[red underline]] Hooker asked me [[/red underline]] to explain work of the [[red underline]] Naval Board. [[/red underline]] All drove to Opera House where we arrived much too late.  Famous Russian Ballet.  [[red underline]] Hooker had rented for us one of the principal boxes [[/red underline]] This is more acting than dancing. -- much like excellent pantomine with a pretext for dancing.  Undoubtedly better than the usual dancing [[strikethrough]] with [[/strikethrough]] which to me looks mostly like acrobatics.
