Away early went to bank to fetch 100 shares of [[red underline]] Baldwin Locomotive preferred [[/red underline]] and gave this to messenger of Erwin & Co (Receipt) Then meeting of [[red underline]] Naval Board [[/red underline]] At lunch [[red underline]] Pupin [[/red underline]] joined us to discuss situation of [[red underline]] aeronautics. [[/red underline]] Later went with [[red underline]] Whitney [[/red underline]] to Bazar of Allies. Very crowded spent cheerfully some more money. Looks as if receipts were going to be good. And yet if they collect two million Dollars it will be only a mere small fraction of what [[red underline]] one day's war costs! [[/red underline]]
Supper at home then with Celine to commencement exercises at Halstead School where [[red underline]] Nina [[/red underline]] graduates

only graduate in [[red underline]] classical [[/red underline]] course, the four others in literary course. Very charming and impressive ceremony. [[red underline]] Dr. MacCracken [[red underline]] the young new president of Vassar made an excellent tactful and rather unassuming address. Poor [[red underline]] George [[/red underline]] ought to have been there but he is wrestling with his rheumatism and is again very helpless.
June 11 (Sunday). Rain all day [[red underline]] George [[/red underline]] somewhat relieved, his hands and arms free. Still some albumen. But legs and feet very much affected but he is cheerful and [[red underline]] laughs like a child at reading Jerome K. Jerome's stories. [[/red underline]] I busy all day without interruption at my different articles and addresses, until late.
June 12. [[red underline]] George [[/red underline]] has [[strikethrough]] ans [[/strikethrough]] new nurse
