I suspect a "nigger in the woodpile" by some of our commercial enemies who thus want to deprive of our much needed material. Undoubdetly the name of [[red underlined]] Roessler & Hasslacher [[/red underlined]] being on the [[red underlined]] british black list [[/red underlined]] has had much to do with all this.  
This is a very serious matter as we have [[red underlined]] only cresol at hand till April [[/red underlined]] 1917. [[strikethrough]] all [[/strikethrough]] and all the other material which we have ordered but which has not yet arrived is withheld. [[red underlined]] It is my duty and task to remove [[/red underlined]] the embargo. So  I canceled immediately my engagement to meet Hooker and Townsend to morrow in [[red underlined]] Washington [[/red underlined]] as I shall have to go and see [[red underlined]] Mali, consul of Belgium who promises his aid, [[/red underlined]] and who will introduce me to [[red underlined]] Consul of Great Britain. [[/red underlined]] If this does not work I shall
