Afternoon ^[[whole family]] went to amateur theatrical at [[red underlined]] Edward Hewitts [[/red underlined]] house in New York, Gramercy park. Very crowded house. Some trouble with engine of our motorcar.
[[strikethrough]] Dec 26 [[/strikethrough]] [[red underlined]] Charles Curtis [[/red underlined]] at University Club keeps on urging for my intervention in disagreement between his company and [[red underlined]] Naval Advisory staff [[/red underlined]] on the subject of [[red underlined]] geared turbines [[/red underlined]] vs. electrical transmission turbines [[/red underlined]] as adopted by the Navy. I [[red underlined]] declined [[/red underlined]] to go further in this matter and referred him to [[red underlined]] Frank Sprague [[/red underlined]] and others of our special committee. Refused also to show him letter which [[red underlined]] Daniels [[/red underlined]] wrote me in answer to mine.
Dec. 26 [[red underlined]] Georges tonsils [[/red underlined]] being operated on in hospital. [[red underlined]] George [[/red underlined]] left here quietly without saying anything. Seemed very cheerful and confident At noon met with Celine at

Later on took [[red underlined]] Horton [[/red underlined]] to University Club for supper, met [[red underlined]] Mali, [[/red underlined]] Halsey and [[red underlined]] Jim Hill. [[/red underlined]]

Dec. 28. This afternoon went to Bellevue Medical College where I met Professor [[strikethrough]] v.d.S [[/strikethrough]] [[red underlined]] Vander Stricht of Ghent, [[/red underlined]] my former
