June 16. to [[red underlined]] Worcester Mass. where [[/red underlined]] at 9 A.M. I delivered another commencement address entitled: [[red underlined]] "Universal Service and Citizen's rights"  which was an elaboration [[/red underlined]] on some remarks made in my article of the [[red underlined]] "World's Work" of last October in which I proposed Universal Service for everybody before he or she could claim full citizens rights or the right to vote. [[/red underlined]]
Afternoon [[strikethrough]] after [[/strikethrough]] at Alumni Banquet spoke again on [[red underlined]] American Ideals, [[/red underlined]] and my speech was so well received that the whole room arose to do me an ovation. There were about [[red underlined]] 500 diners present. [[/red underlined]] Afterwards several came to [[red underlined]] congratulate me and [[/red underlined]] to thank me.  Took evening train for New York.

June 15. This afternoon [[red underlined]] arrival of  Professor Grignard [[/red underlined]] of the University of Nancy was announced.  he is the belated member of the [[red underlined]] French scientific commission. [[/red underlined]] Went to French Pier to await his ship the "Chicago". [[red underlined]] 
^[[Cary]] Hutchinson and Bogert there [[/red underlined]] on same mission.  What a difference nowadays around these piers.  Few people around none of the former gayety and cheerfulness.  Steamer came in [[red underlined]] painted gray. [[/red underlined]] Looks very somber. [[red underlined]] Some french soldiers and officers in uniform. [[/red underlined]] Note two or three handsome [[strikethrough]] american [[/strikethrough]] young americans in [[red underline]] french uniform. [[red underlined]] Grignard [[/red underlined]] was with two or three others and they will take care of him
June 16. Here all day. Evening went to University Club. There met [[red underlined]] Colonel Pomey.  Capt [[/red underlined]]
