Aug 29. Rained all night This morning some sunshine Drove down the steeply descending narrow road. Lovely scenery. Then the main State Road again, thru [[underlined in red]] Elizabethtown. [[/underlined in red]] Met a place called Underwood, where there is a private club of cottages or campers. Asked whether I could take lunch there. At first a certain hesitation then afterwards a certain [[underlined in red] Mr. Ladue introduced me [[/underlined in red]] and after hearing my name told me he [[underlined in red]] knew May and Mrs. May, [[/underlined in red]] then invited me to a cocktail in his room and [[underlined in red]] introduced me to everybody around and [[/underlined in red]] after awhile felt much at home and was the guest

and then walked to nearby camp of [[underlined in red]] Mr. Underwood [[/underlined in red]] Jr. a big [[underlined in red]] strapping fellow preparing his officers exam. [[/underlined in red]] Then ahead thru most lovely scenery, [[underlined in red]] mountains - wood [[/underlined in red]] lands lakes. - it is like an immense garden. Intended to [[underlined in red]] wire Celine [[/underlined in red]] to join me at Lake George at Fort Williams Hotel, but there found out there [[underlined in red]] is no room so [[/underlined in red]] had to go again at that other noisy and unsatisfactory Park Inn, and decided not to wire to Celine. Rainy cheerless weather. Went to bed early
Aug 30. Rain and cheerless weather 
After waiting for awhile went for lunch at [[underlined in red]] Fort William Henry Hotel. [[/underlined in red]] Splendid situation. [[strikethrough]] Hotel entirely filled. [[/strikethrough]] [[underlined in red]] Every room taken. [[/underlined in red]] Wired to Celine would try to reach Albany to
