Ocean, there in sight of the towers of [[red underline]] St Augustine, dropped anchor [[/red underline]] near beach. While I went ashore to take a swim, [[red underline]] Albert prepared two birds we had shot. [[/red underline]] A most delightful well prepared meal! Stewed them in butter with a few onions and a small amount of tomato sauce.
About 2 P.M at low tide entered the harbor. Shoals are plainly marked by buoys and beacons specially easy to follow at ebb tide. Anchored before fence south of draw bridge.
I went ashore to send telegram to [[red underline]] Celine. Small town but very pretty and has a spanish appearance [[/red underline]] on account of its buildings

and palmetto trees in street. The big tourists' [[red underline]] hotels remain closed till Christmas. [[/red underline]]
Nov. [[overwritten]] 17 [[/overwritten]] 18 (Sunday) 1917 Passed a quiet night here, no wind. Quite cool at night but morning sun sent its warming glow. Stayed aboard all day fixing and repairing things aboard, electrical fixtures, anchor lights etc. Albert did the same but went ashore for a walk after 4 P.M. Distant sound of church bells. [[red underline]] Nuns [[/red underline]] walking over the bridge nearby. - This was a very busy day and after supper went thankfully to bed. [[red underline]] Albert is a good cook!
