wagon road (or trail) on the left leading to [[red underline]] Port Henry [[/red underline]]. This road is not so dangerous as the former. The beginning is pretty good then it gets worse. There are several little ponds where the brook broadens and the largest is Crows Pond which might be called a little Lake. [[strikethrough]] This is [[/strikethrough]] Before reaching this there are several little patches big enough to set the car and tent off the [[red underline]] Road. Crows [[/red underline]] pond is best place for camping but on the account is [[red underline]] liable to attract camping parties [[/red underline]]  
It was ^[[a]] very hot day. Took a swim in the Lake and loitered long enough to dry my bathing suit. Then went in to [[strikethrough]] Porth  [[/strikethrough]] [[red underline]] Port Henry [[/red underline]] via Mineville with its huge dumps of the iron mines, thence to Port Henry

where bought some provisions for camping. Then back to [[red underline]] Crows Pond where I erected my [[strikethrough]] tent [[/strikethrough]] little one man's tent. [[/red underline]] Lovely landscape and absolute stillness. Water is smooth as a mirror and the mountains [[strikethrough]] rai [[/strikethrough]] rising from every side. Then as soon as the sun had set, The whipoor-wills began their calls the fishes began to jump in the Lake and for a few minutes the [[red underline]] hidden [[strikethrough]] living [[/strikethrough]] ^[[animal]] world in the woods seemed to come suddenly to life [[/red underline]]. 
Then a full moon emerging behind the wooded mountain top gave light. Kept gazing at it [[red underline]] till about midnight, [[/red underline]] lying on the grass; then the sky became cloudy and thunder was rolling [[red underline]] so crept in my tent [[/red underline]]. A few rain drops plattering on the canvass
Aug. 22 [[red underline]] When I awoke day was breaking the weather had cleared entirely [[/red underline]] and the full moon was setting.
