out whether I could stay there but Luck was not in so I made up my mind to try to obtain accomodation at [[red underline]] Ausable Club. [[/red underline]] My bill for [[red underline]] Valley Inn [[/red underline]] one day was $4.00 no charges for my car which I left in the shed [[red underline]] At Ausable Club [[/red underline]] was well received [[red underline]] by the Club who gave me a plain but comfortable and clean little room on the [[/red underline]]second story bedrooms facing the East. Beautiful view with "golf links" in front and mountains in distance.
Later on the moon arose above the mountains and I could see from [[red underline]] my bed the changing light effects on the landscape. [[/red underline]]
Aug. 24. Up early by the first red glow of the rising sun. Then a walk to [[red underline]] Lower Ausable Lake. [[/red underline]] Very hot walk

came back over Rainbow Falls but lost blazed trail and had to retrace my steps. [[red underline]] Lower Ausable Lake very beautiful.[[/red underline]] A tall blonde young lady who had preceded me was swimming in the Lake.  The guides there told me she had been in the water for almost one hour. Refreshments can be had at the cottage near the Lake. From there canoes and guides row you up to the trail which leads to Upper Lake. I [[red underline]] intend to reserve this for another occasion, [[/red underline]] perhaps with [[red underline]] Celine [[/red underline]]. The only objection is that I [[red underline]] do not like to be bothered by the company of a guide and all the fuss that goes with it. [[/red underline]] Walked in all 13 miles today. Went to bed early. Some beautiful moonlight.
