Afternoon rained and thundered and we both took it restfully reading.
Sept 1 (1918)(Sunday) The sky has cleared it is most beautiful weather
So we engaged a guide (Trumbull) and went off for the [[red underline]] Ausable Lakes [[/red underline]] Drove as far as first lake then Trumbull rowed us to end, thence a short trail led us to [[red underline]] Upper Ausable [[/red underline]] Lake even more beautiful than first. Everything in its primitive natural condition. Finally arrived at Trumbull's Camp where he prepared our lunch of boiled potatoes [[strikethrough]] omle [[/strikethrough]]

omelet, cheese and excellent pan-cakes. Back at Club house about 5:30 P.M.
Sept 2. This is the day for leaving. 
Beautiful weather again. Started off at about 9:00 A.M but [[strikethrough]] kept [[/strikethrough]] stopped some time at store at [[red underline]] Keene Valley Village. [[/red underline]] 
Left there about 9:30 A.M. then drove slowly 15-20 m. thru beautiful road towards Elizabethtown. At about 2:15 PM took lunch at Fort William Henry Hotel [[red underline]] Lake George. [[/red underline]] Many motorists everywhere along the road. Took road thru [[red underline]] Luzerne and Corinth [[/red underline]] which is much more picturesque than that [[strikethrough]] aft [[/strikethrough]] over Glen Falls.
Arrived at [[red underline]] Albany [[/red underline]] about 6:30 P.M. but kept on so as to reach [[red underline]] Rhinebeck [[/red underline]] to night.
