them rowed me aboard [[red underline]] Cygnet.[[/red underline]] Albert was [[trying?]] the engine and did not hear my calls. [[red underline]] Glad to be aboard again.[[/red underline]] Found [[red underline]] Cygnet [[/red underline]] propped up ready to put the [[strikethrough]] cradle [[/strikethrough]] skids underneath. Weather calm but still rather damp.
Simple supper. Started [[red underline]] smudging to drive an occasional mosquito [[/red underline]] away.
Jan 11. Last night moderate. North Western kept pounding the waves on our stern and kept me awake most of the night, consulting sky and barometer. Moonlight till about 4A.M. Weather feels damp and cloudy this morning and the men do not show up, probably on account of the cold weather.

Sent letter to [[red underline]] May, Schleussner and Celine by Albert to Tavernier [[/red underline]] P.O.
At 9.30A.M [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] the men came around in their boat but it was [[red underline]] so cold and windy [[/red underline]] that it was out of the question to start work in the water. I invited them on board and they gave me much information about navigation of the waters from here to Key West, shelters, anchorage etc. Tell me that at [[red and black underline]] Isla morada [[/red and black underline]] the dock is I shape so that a boat can be tied on either side for shelter [[red underline]] according to the way the wind blows. [[/red underline]] That the dock on the next Key [[underline]] (Knight's Key) [[/underline]] has been burned and not replaced
that [[red underline]] Bamboo Key is indeed a nice little place said to be free from mosquitoes [[/red underline]]
