N˚1 at 2:26 P.M and changed course to S 1/2 E. N.W. wind increasing on SE quarter P'sd' [[red underline]] Soldier Key [[/red underline]] at 2:50. Thus far 11 naut miles in 100 minutes or 0.11 M in 10 min, or 0.011 per minute. [[red underline]] Engine working splendidly [[/red underline]] apparently full speed but drag of dinghy and its propeller and curved course (at least 1M. out) accounts for this. 
Supposing 12M. then speed was only 7.2 knots.
Had to correct course [[strikethrough]] S 1/2 E [[/strikethrough]] to S by W making for next

At 3P.M changed to S by W The compas course in Pilot guide is S 1/2 W = Former log indicates that a direct course S allowing 1/2 point for deviation of course would have been correct [[underline]] Deviation of compas for S 1/2 W is = 1/2W. [[/underline]] or instead of S 1/2 W Mag. = S. comp.

1st White slat Beacon on SB at Featherbed Bank passage = 3:25P.M  Last White Slat ditto 4:25. Then changed course to [[underline]] S by W [[/underline]] Pilot Guide indicates S by W 1/4 W. Mag. allowing for N.W. winds corrected course should be 1/2 less. for deviation or [[underline]] S by 3/4 W [[/underline]]
Passed first slat Beacon at [[red underline]] Arseniker Cut [[/red underline]] at 5 P.M  Anchored at 5:35 about 300 yards of Western Shore [[red underline]] (Everglades?) [[/red underline]] sheltered against N.W and N. winds. In about 8 feet. Hard bottom and flat (coral?) very clear water [[red underline]] Card Sound. [[/red underline]]
