After breakfast went out alone with dinghy and Evinrude for exploring different shoals near [[red underline]] Sand key [[/red underline]] and the Ragged key near by. A dredge is at work and this Ragged key is being dredged all around with [[red underline]] slips for yachts or boats, went out in between this and next [[red underline]] Ragged key [[/red underline]] into [[red underline]] the Ocean [[/red underline]] but even there shoals were such that I several times struck bottom with Dinghy, then proceeded Southward toward [[red underline]] Sand key. [[/red underline]] The shoals extend about 1/2 mile seaward. Landed at [[red underline]] Sand key which has a nice sandy beach [[/red underline]] [[strikethrough]] There are [[/strikethrough]] Near the shore are [[red underline]] coconut palms [[/red underline]]

and I gathered a few young [[red underline]] coconuts [[/red underline]] to send to George and Nina, then head to pass the cut at Sand cut but took it too far north The cut is in the middle between the two shoals about in line with the opening and is over a bar. I saw a little sloop pass it at half low tide I doubt whether there is 2 1/2 feet of water at low tide. After entering the cut I followed the [[strikethrough]] sh [[/strikethrough]] inshore of Sand cut hunting for [[red underline]] lobsters. speared [[/red underline]] a couple of them and continued my operation wading till the Northern End of the cut. I notice that the bight at the [[red underline]] Northern End of Sand [[strikethrough]] That [[/strikethrough]] key [[/red underline]] where we are anchored has [[red underline]] 4 feet water
