[[/red underline]] I notice that altho' wind is very moderate the surf beats the water into columns of white spray near the shore which may be 3 or 4 miles distant Captain tells me that frequently there is little or no wind and yet [[red underline]] a heavy ground well. [[/red underline]] Thayer tells me that sometimes there is [[red underline]] formidable [[/red underline]] wind and bold weather
