Evening went to Century Club where had dinner with [[red underline]] William Washburn Nutting [[/red underline]] Editor of the Motor Boat, who made the cruise [[strikethrough]] of [[/strikethrough]] to and from Europe in his ketch rigged 42 feet ^[[sail]] yacht the [[red underline]] "Typhoon".[[/red underline]] [[strikethrough]] A [[/strikethrough]] Also present Mr. Stevens ^[[Stephen]] Editor of Lloyds Yacht Register, [[red underline]] De Forest Baldwin and Ellwood  Hendrick. [[/red underline]] A very interesting yachting conservation. [[red underline]] Nutting a very modest likeable kind of a fellow. [[/red underline]] 
Dec. 17. [[red underline]] George Roll [[/red underline]] all day in Newark, finishing balance sheet of [[red underline]] Dane [[/red underline]] Molding Co. discovers [[red underline]] more unpaid bills [[/red underline]] and expenses counted as assets. I feel more [[red underline]] and more disgusted [[/red underline]] with this whole enterprise. Afternoon I went to visit Jacob Hasslacher

He [[red underline]] is much worse [[/red underline]] than when I last saw him. Paralysis has increased makes it impossible to move from his chair, and his speech involves much effort. It is a pity to see him.

[[strikethrough]] Dec. 19 (Sunday) Cold clear weather [[/strikethrough]] Told Gothelf to try [[red underline]] furfurol [[/red underline]] as solid solvent in transparent or cloudy bakelite of every type more particularly the varieties made with enough hexa to insure permanence of color. Also to use it in [[red underline]] conjunction with other solid solvents, [[/red underline]] modifying proportions and also try the effect of addition of smaller amounts to the formulae now in use.
