Jan 14. Hired automobile to make round trip to [[red underline]] Point Loma, visited Ramona's [[/red underline]] house, an old typical adobe hacienda of former Mexican days. Then [[red underline]] Mad Tingley's Theosophical institution. [[/red underline]]  Beautiful gardens and [[strikethrough]] view [[/strikethrough]] marvelous view, with Greek open air theater and the blue Pacific as a background all very tastefully arranged.
I bought some literature most of which refers to [[red underline]] quarrels between Mad. Tingley and Mrs.  Annie Besant. [[/red underline]]
Afternoon took long walk along wharves and suburbs.

Afternoon went out in an [[red underline]] excursion boat [[/red underline]] driven by Fairbanks Morse Semi-Diesel engine around harbor, Fort Rosecrans etc.  Skipper is very satisfied with his engine and prefers it to gasoline engines. Says has no trouble. Uses hot torch to start it. Says only trouble is that you cannot throttle it down, and works best under full load.
