graduate work, but on the other hand anything in the line of research laboratories for postgraduate work of department of Chemistry would be favored. The main thing is to carry out this idea without undesirable friction 
Declined to divide up Bakelite Research Fellowship for research work on methyl alcohol, as this subject is not any longer of such great importance and is being worked by others.
Went for lunch at Chemists Club and brought [[red underline]] Townsend and Hendrick [[/red underline]] to Snug Rock for dinner celebrating the anniversary of our wedding. [[strikethrough]] Hendick [[/strikethrough]] Ellwood [[red underline]] Hendrick [[/red underline]] entertained us with his excellent stories and philosophical remarks and wit. The whole family complete and a very happy evening. We found a bottle of Burgundy ^[[date]] 1870.

Aug 9. Went to see [[red underline]] Parmelee, [[/red underline]] Editor Metallurgical and Chemical Magazine; Onken ditto Electrical World to furnish them copies and additional information about decision in patent suit case. Was received in friendly spirit by all of them. Took lunch chemists Club.
At 2:30 P. M. meeting with Townsend and Schleussner to discuss consolidation with Condensite Co. Both are in favor and S. tells that he has spoken to Roessler who thinks the same way. Told them that I would see Kirk Brown first occasion to discuss subject further.
Evening went to [[red underline]] Herty's [[/red underline]] office to furnish him marked copy of Chatfield's decision ^[[for publication.]]
Aug. 10. Afternoon went to inspect Ion which seems in good condition.
