After swimming and attempting some sailing with dinghy weighed anchor and anchored for night in Oyster Bay. George took sailing dinghy to go ashore and [[red underline]] telephone Celine [[red underline]] who will join us tomorrow with Nina and [[/red underline]] Cornelia. [[/red underline]] Calm pleasant night 
Aug 24. Up early. Bright pleasant weather. At 11 AM [[red underline]] Celine Nina and Cornelia [[/red underline]] came aboard ^[[at New Rochelle]] and we motored to the sandy beach [[strikethrough]] at [[/strikethrough]] in Hempstead Bay. Swimming and gathering mussels [[red underline]] George [[/red underline]] who has taken much to like the dinghy is sailing about. Brought every body back [[strikethrough]] at [[/strikethrough]] to New Rochelle and Lewis and I went for anchor in Manhasset Bay.
Aug 25. [[strikethrough]] Ea [[/strikekthrough]] NE wind, went out sailing, all sails out all

day. Evening came to anchor in Manhasset Bay
Aug 26. Out early. Good Easterly breeze. Beyond Stamford [[strikethrough]] for [[/strikethrough]] suddenly discovered smoke emerging from engine room. Wire [[red underline]] short circuited [[/red underline]] on battery much time lost remedying trouble then clutch etc. and by the time everything was mended, wind had vanished. At anchor over night in [[red underline]] Manhasset Bay [[/red underline]] 
Aug 27. This has been a succession of clear dry days temperatures ranging from 65 to 75°. Today [[strikethrough]] cloudy [[/strikethrough]] clouds appear. Left our anchorage early. Arrived Spuyten Duivel about noon. George ^[[B.]] came to fetch us with car about 3 P.M. Home for supper
