Gothelf tells me he intends giving up his job on account of nervous condition and thinks that if he worked home [[strikethrough]] he would be [[/strikethrough]] on his own scientific problems he would be benefitted thereby. He says it is not a question of salary, that he is in comfortable financial conditions. I advise him to take a vacation and go away somewhere in other surroundings but he says he cannot on account of his old mother and sister.
