Discussed pending matters of General Bakelite Co. factory till I was very tired.
Dec. 7. Up early and further conference about work on hand and new matters.  Also adjusted special compensation for those of our men at factory whose salary is inadequate.
Rossi stayed here for lunch then returned.
All afternoon calculations on present financial condition of G.B. Co. It looks now as if dividend would be earned in 1921 unless there is too much of an offset by [[strikethrough]] an unfavorable [[/strikethrough]] depreciation on our inventory.
Further conference with Rossi about affairs of G.B. Co. and factory and got his advice about

supplementary remuneration to employes under him. Told him he will be treated ahead of [[red underline]] May [[/red underline]] this year.  The latter seeing no supplement beyond his 2% [[strikethrough]] in [[/strikethrough]] dividends. Also told him I had learned Karpen had obtained control of Condensite Co. which complicates our situation, and had asked for a compromise on patent situation. Told him nothing beyond this and urged him secrecy. He left here after lunch.
Dec 8. Met Karpen et all 2:30 P.M. he brought Goldsmith his lawyer along also Redman, Berlitzheimer, Kirk Brown and Sanford Brown. Goldsmith seems a decent wide awake and straight-forward
