Two last nights much bothered with mosquitoes in my cabin. Two elusive mosquitoes one cannot catch are enough to make a night miserable
July 26 Cooler weather. Message sent to Philada cannot find the bevel gears. Must be made here laid up here another day
July 27. Went out sailing with dinghy in creek nearby overtaken by a succession of thunder showers. Wet thru and thru. Lewis fixed magneto this evening but magneto seems to lack power of current 
Lewis showed much goodwill to have this job finish well

July 28. Cloudy. Light winds. Left at 5:45 for Cape May Tortuous channel. Considerable delay with narrow R.R. bridges. Tore fore away while passing one on account of wind & current taking command of ship 
Meadows, canals - summer places, etc etc. many small boat and small yacht Club and little summer cottages with shelter for small boat below 
Channel well marked Around Cold Spring Harbor 2:30 P.M. Excellent spacious harbor, good water and practically empty except 2 or 3 yachts. Anchored near head of Bay where there is a small village, ice, water & gasoline
