Excellent meal "Ladona" beautiful new 81/0.a Boston Schooner Yacht owned by Homer Laring was around and was invited to inspect her by the owner. Temp in my cabin 90 [[degree symbol]] then 95 [[degree symbol]] Tried new square sail. Lifted anchor about 1P.M. [[strikethrough]] Gen [[/strikethrough]] Light breeze. Square sail + mizzen mast well; so does new rudder Anchored Oyster Bay over night Aug 18. cooler. Thermometer in my cabin at 6AM = only 78 [[degree symbol]] F Light Southerly Breeze. Got away without power on square sail and mizzen. Works very well. No trouble in steering Wind on SB quarter Breeze improving. By time we pass new haven it blows a gale and wind abeam Behaves beautifully making average of 5 knots. Ship under complete command
