South westers and Oil skins indispensable this trip! Afterwards I find we dropped anchor almost at the same place where the Pilgrims of the Mayflower dropped theirs. The Peristyle erected by some historic society is built over the historic Plymouth Rock bearing the date of the landing
Monday Aug 28. Rain and more rain. seems as it had been raining forever. Seals come around in harbor. Went for lunch in Hotel near Plymouth Rock. Then drove around town in rain in a motor car doing some shopping and visiting places of interest. Monument old cemetery etc. All very interesting and quaint

Unusual large number of shops where "antiquities" are sold. My driver is a well informed man. Evening a certain Mr. Sullivan of Boston ^[[(or Braintree?]] comes in with his motor boat, carrying his family and children. comes aboard for a friendly chat and give me much useful information as to harbors etc.
Aug 29. Beautiful weather All our rain is forgotten Leave direct for Boston at about 7 A.M. Went for anchor at Hull, near station of Boston Yacht Club. Excellent anchorage but for frequent swells caused by excursion boats to Boston
