Late in afternoon fog suddenly clears and we return to our former anchorage. (See log book)
September 3. (Sunday) Ran from York to Portland; left 6:30 A.M. arrive Portland Harbor 11:30 A.M.
Thick foggy rainy weather. Fill in watertanks from Water boat. - Showers.
Sept 4. Heavy hazy weather fog. Lewis goes ashore and paints bulkhead of engine room while I write letters. Fog increases at night.
Sept 5. Fog has disappeared. I am tired of fog and maine and cold weather so conclude to return. Left at 6:35 in direct course to Scituate Harbor Mass.

which we reach at sunset. Quaint quiet little anchorage. crooked channel well buoyed. Drop anchor 7:15 P.M.
Sept 6. Went ashore to buy newspaper and some provisions bought lobsters from one of the lobstermen. After swim & lunch left for Provincetown Cape Cod Calm placid sea at first then violent squall and heavy showers. Dropped anchor at 3:45 P.M.
Sept. 7. Went ashore. Place seems mainly inhabited by Portugese fisherman and by artists judging from the many studios and "schools of art". Went walking around and climbed Pilgrim's Monument. Perfect weather.
