Cold cloudy skies and repeated showers. I feel I have again a sore throat and am sneezing again what a climate!
May 15. Sunny weather. Glad to be out of my hotel When I get to train [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] conductor tells me my ticket is wrong and reads May 17 instead of May 15 [[strikethrough]] Lo [[/strikethrough]] and no other seats available in this crowded train. Much telephoning and explaining finally last minute employe of Am Xpress Co delivers me the corrected ticket. Crowded train. Same little crowded uncomfortable boat. Much rolling and hardly any place to sit or stand except exposed to rain and wind. Baggage on deck not covered [[strikethrough]] esp han [[/strikethrough]] handled in rain

Arrive Dover in rain much loss of time is passport examination then baggage. Express to London with excellent Pullman cars Very good train and ditto service. Arrive London about 10 P.M. Pouring rain good room with bath in Cecil. 25 shillings a day. [[strikethrough]] Everything [[/strikethrough]] Room small but everything works and excellent service.

May. 16. Wet streets and rainey Went to draw $300 in the financial district. Same "clarks" and men in sack coats and a stove pipe. Stove pipe badge of respectability ^[[or seriousness]] Still is worn incomparably less than before except amongst "clarks" and old timers. Streets in the city much crowded and very slow progress with a taxicab. Taximeter counts in all delays.
