Same cork burnt minstrel performers in the street. Street singers seem to have increased since the war. Many former service men in the street with medals on their chest singing or performing. [[underline]] but no begging [[/underline]] Before each theatre while people who want to buy their [[strikethrough]] seats [[/strikethrough]] tickets for the lower priced seats stand waiting in lines (some of them sitting on hired folding chairs) one or two singers perform and collect contributions. all this done in a very dignified [[strikethrough]] wa [[/strikethrough]] and orderly way.
May 19. Cabled to Celine that I may be home by next saturday. Went to buy 3 pipes for George = 3£. Theatres here in London are mostly all old fashioned
