went exploring harbor in sailing dingy. Then went under motor to anchor before Ricketson Point. Oliver Ricketson took me out in his 55 ft schooner yacht. built in Maine (Dorothy N.) Fisherman type. - Very seaworthy and well kept. No mahogany. everything painted. His captain who is also his chauffeur. - a New England lad. sails her entirely alone. I was astonished at the ease with which she is handled. Her only drawback is her draft 6-7 feet. Strong Southern breeze but rather cool.
Aug 25. Went out with ION to Pencken Island then Cutty Hunk Harbor then Cutty Hunk Pond - where anchored. Went to buy

lobster from a negro on the small dock. Islands look much like Block Island is overgrown with sparse grass and no trees. [[underline]] Aug 26 [[/underline]] (Sunday) Henry De F. Baldwin has arrived from New York. Went out with him in his sloop Penekere to Naushon Island. Landed at one of the small beaches and went walking thru the woods. - This Island is wooded with somewhat stunted trees - oaks, and beeches. Very pleasant walk. Fresh water pond. See chart.
