Baldwin is about my age or somewhat older but very expert with his boat and a daring sailor and knows all about Buzzards Bay. His boat and cabin is very simple but very practical. He usually sails alone.
Aug 27. Moderate wind. So Baldwin cam aboard ION and we went under power [[strikethrough]] to [[/strikethrough]] thru Wood's Hole to Vineyard Haven. Pretty little town, [[strikethrough]] mostly [[/strikethrough]] formerly mostly sea-captains, whalers and fisherman - now much of a modest summer colony Supplies, fish, groceries of every kind. Pretty little harbor. Went for a walk and to buy supplies. Bought 3 swordfish steaks etc

Beautiful mild weather
Back at Ricketson Point anchorage at sunset. Feasted on excellent sword-fish steak cooked by Lewis
Aug 28. Cloudy skies. strong S. Breeze. Went under sail to Marion Harbor. Baldwin aboard. Marion pretty well sheltered, landlocked little Harbor Went ashore to village then returned. Increased wind half a gale. Quite dirty returned to Ricketson Point anchorage before dark
Aug 29 cloudy and low barometer. Went to Hadley Harbor under sail. Baldwin same course in Penekere Charming anchorage is Hadley Harbor, entirely land locked The Island of Naushon belong to Forbes family since 1843
