Walk thru old quaint little town. George B tells me there is nothing of any immediate importance. Telephoned to C.P. Townsend about pending patent suits. About noon left for Sachem Head Harbor under 3 sails. Light winds.
Sachem Head is pretty but a very narrow anchorage for any large boat. Had to kedge as anchor for and aft so as to prevent swinging into rocks or other boats
[[underline]] Wednesday Sept 5. 1923 [[/underline]] Got off under square sail and mizzen After Stratford Shoal started engine. Discovered some trouble on engine and ran for anchorage under sail in Clinton Harbor With dinghy I visited the Yacht Club to buy provisions while Lewis arranges engine. cold but started stove in cabin  which cleared me up. rapidly
[[underline]] Thursday Sept 6. 1923 [[/underline]] Left for Manhasset Bay under power Water absolutely smooth. - no wine - no ripple
At noon anchored in Manhasset Bay. took in gasoline for all tanks from gasoline boat. and and anchored near Plum Point Sand Spit. Kept sailing in dinghy till late. Sails unbent on ION
[[underline]] Friday. Sept 7. 1923. [[/underline]] Lowering masts for trip under bridges etc. Arrive Spuyten Duivel about noon. Everybody well at home Home for supper. Nikola alone Most Grapes are ripe. Find 2 barrels grape juice sent from Hammondsport
