Afternoon long talk with Chamberlin. Informed him as to our plans and decisions. He has little use for Kirk Brown as all who work with him.
Evening dinner at Chemists Club in honor of Dr. C.A. Browne, Chief Chemists. Department Agriculture. Wiley there and many other well known men. Dinner very successful. Bogert toast master. I was called up on to speak. and referred to resent article of Hendrick which the latter wrote to [[strikethrough]] defen [[/strikethrough]] urge public recognition of [[strikethrough]] ev [[/strikethrough]] civil service men who had served our country well. Took Bogert Thomas, Toch and Mckee home in Packard but the latter gave trouble and I had to drive home in a taxi cab. Trouble due to defective float in vacuum - gasoline feed. Home 1 P.M

Sept. 26. At 3 P.M. to Columbia for beginning exercises. Long talk with Morecroft at lunch at Faculty Club asking him counsel about Radio matters and publicity After ceremony. Hendrick and Henry de T. Baldwin drove with me to Snug Rock. to see my [[strikethrough]] home [[/strikethrough]] wine making and taste it at supper. George Baekeland joined us. Very pleasant evening
Sept. 27. Conference with Townsend reported erroneously Sept 25 Afternoon Carlton Ellis came to see me. Wants to sell all his patents on plastics to Bakelite. Corporation. Also explained to him his former misunderstanding with Townsend which broke off the then pending negotiations on the subject of sulpherized phenol. Very busy day. Celine and all back from Adirondacks.
