Rossi telephones me about accident on one of the stills of Perth Amboy plant. One man killed, another man, foreman badly burnt now in hospital. Accident due to caulosness of killed man. Feel much upset Later on news that man in hospital is doing better

Visit of Potter and Swinburne of England. Frank discussion of difficulties in situation of participating in English enterprise. Redman, George Baekeland and George Roll present. Took Swinburne and Potter to University Club for lunch. Further conference afterwards. Told them why for the moment we cannot cooperate.
