Told Redman should direct further action and invited him to come and visit and survey us as our guest at the first opportunity when Redman comes to New York. Remainder of afternoon spent with Redman and Kaspen finding a more acceptable from our employment contract.
Nov. 10. 1923. Up early packing then to Chicago office. Further discussion with Kaspen and Redman about necessity of better employment contract. Kaspen after consulting Goldsmith, his lawyer says our contract at present is invalid being too exclusive.

Discussed further Carter matter with Redman & Kaspen. Took 12:40 P.M train for New York. Am much pleased with my visit and the man there.
Sunday. 11. ^[[Nov]] Arrived Harmon 8:40 AM. Lewis there with car drove home.
Nov. 12. To office. A certain Mr. Talbot, a young man representing Tariff commission there Says he graduated from N.Y. University Chemical Engineering Dept. Quite young about 24 years. Has been employed until lately in a synthetic chemical concern in New Jersey. Talked to him in presence of George Baekeland and Quigly. Wanted to know our patent situation here and in Germany. also to inspect our plant. See my letter to Redman giving an account of his visit Then came Rossi and Dr. Jones
