not yet to Townsend who looks queer when the thing is discussed. Schleussner and Karpen wanted to have the thing discussed only in executive board but I insisted in bringing it before the whole Board of Directors so as to explain them my attitude.  
Then afterwards long Executive meeting till about 5 P.M. Glad it's all over. A very busy and tiring day. Then I gave a dinner to all the directors and Swan, Hays, [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] Sanford Brown & George Baekeland at University Club. Homard Thermidor and my own home-made wines, all very appreciated; some short wholesome sincere speeches

from myself, ^[[A]] Karpen, Redman, Leo Karpen, and Schleussner and Sanford Brown. - a splendid hearty spirit [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] of high character. Everybody pleased. Drove home with the two Georges.
Dec. 21. All day very busy signing bonus checks and bonus letters. Evening supper at U.C.
Dec. 22. At home telephoning and writing belated letters.
Dec. 23 (Sunday) Here all day listening to Radio [[strikethrough]] etc [[/strikethrough]] and reading and resting.
Dec. 24. Went to bank for securities

Dec 25. (Christmas) no snow but dry and crisp. All the Grandchildren here around Christmas tree and pretty soon quarreling and crying
