March 3. [[red underline]] Ellwood Hendrick [[/red underline]] arrived here early this morning with ship from N.Y. he is towing an old uncle who is suffering from melancholy and who is very stubborn and cannot smile. Also arrived Mr. [[red underline]] George Fraser and family. [[/red underline]] Spent afternoon at Yacht Club with Hendrick who has to leave to morrow according to his uncles wish for Port Antonio

March 4. Sent article for Howe off also letter to George B recommending not to answer [[red underline]] George Croydon Marks [[/red underline]] letter [[stirkethrough]] if [[/strikethrough]] unless Hays thinks it indispensable.
