[[/red underline]] Beautiful bright crisp weather and extensive view with the tops of endless hills of the Island below. [[red underline]] Mandeville [[/red underline]] a small place, less crowded than most of the [[strikethrough]] village [[/strikethrough]] ^[[towns]] ive passed. A large central green before church and Cemetery but rather scant population [[red underline]] Mandeville Hotel [[/red underline]] seems rather dilapidated altho' patronized by British so went to [[red underline]] Newley [[/red underline]] which is about one mile outside center of town and is somewhat better. 
Proprietor is [[strikethrough]] Oliphant [[/strikethrough]] [[red underline]] Donald Oliphant [[/red underline]] a pink faced [[red underline]] blond Scot who served in the Indian Army. [[/red underline]]

Dining room outside bright and clean.
Electric light plant Delco or Western Electric type I notice everywhere here large cement [[red underline]] cisterns where rainwater is collected [[/red underline]] from adjacent cement floors or platforms which [[red underline]] are not kept any too clean. [[/red underline]] n town there was one which thus collected the cement floor of the market! The cement reservoirs are almost empty and green scum and debris are floating around in them!
At the [[red underline]] Newley [[/red underline]] some one had [[red underline]] installed a Radio receiving [[/red underline]] set and they [[red underline]] were listening to organ recital, [[/red underline]] and singing in one of the churches of [[red underline]] Pittsburgh, Pa. [[/red underline]] - Few people here - Place very dead on
