what kind of shelter we can get in basin. Found that Quebec Yacht Club with its 1/2 dozen small boats occupies a corner of the basin and has a little Clubhouse there in charge of a certain [[Grenway?]] who is an obliging but very talkative Newfoundlander. [[strikethrough]] Sowe [[/strikethrough]] So we sailed back with intention to moor there tomorrow.
July 19. Early moored at Yacht Club. Tied fore on a float and aft to the wharf. Basin is almost empty. At high tide when lock is opened there is the shriek of tugboats towing in schooners and ketches. When wind blows W quite some soft coal smoke.
