Dropt anchor before hotel. The few guests all come out. J. Rowland brother of Jasper Rowland and member of Cruising Club of America there with little motor cruiser "Wild Duck"  
Knows all about these waters; is an experienced sailor has been sailing around Labrador. Told me to shift my anchor to better bottom. Just then saw ION drag and signaled Lewis who brought her to better anchorage. Hotel spacious but simple and exquisitely clean. Very good service but very mediocre cooking. Few guests. A few Americans on the "Saguenay Trip" others are from Quebec or New Bruns-

wick. Cold, rainy and windy. Waited to return aboard till evening. Sent telegrams & letters to George and Celine. On account of rain could not go to village
[[underline]] July 26. [[/underline]] Anchor held good; cold and cloudy and squally weather. Stove feels good in my cabin.

Aug 28. Spent 3 hours after supper going thru accumulated mail. All ^[[are]] in Adirondacks except George Roll who goes there tonight. Says Nina has been ill.
