Temperature 80˚F. in my room but pleasant. A large amount of correspondence. My [[strikethrough]] editorial [[/strikethrough]] ^[[article]] [[underline]] "Our Field" [[/underline]] has been syndicated and several newspapers have published editorials on the subject.

Went to N.Y. office but nobody there on account of holidays except [[underline]] Quigley [[/underline]] Went to University Club for lunch where met Hutchison Peet & Bridges

Then drove to ION, which is hauled out. Hull not a scratch except a dent in stern where boat struck submerged wreck. Drove home. All alone quiet and reposeful

Aug 31. Home all day answering personal letters.  Nobody here but Butler and his wife. A busy but restful undisturbed day. Rather hot 85°F.

Labor Day More answering of private letters mostly congratulations from [[underline]] Belgium [[/underline]] about being made a [[underline]] Commander. [[/underline]] Warm sultry weather but restful. Afternoon went to Spuyton Duvil for 2 hours to examine sails for sail-pram
[[underline]] Sept 2. [[/underline]] At office early answering belated letters, reading reports etc. Cleared most of my desk. Late in afternoon went to try new pram dinghy. She sails well with larger rudder.
Sept. 3.  All day at office.
