Seems disgusted with weather in New York March. 9. Started [[underline]] new run on raisins ^[[wine]] in 5 gal. jar. [[/underline]] 10 packages (15 oz each) of "Sunmaid" seedless raisins 6 lbs - granulated sugar 28 pints of lukewarm water added [[strikethrough]] some [[/strikethrough]] ^[[a few]] raisins of former run to start sooner. Mixed at 10 AM ^[[was]] fermenting at 3 P.M Withdrew last run started Feb 27 [[end page]] [[start page]] 63 and which has had exactly 10 days run. I took all the raisins which had already been used in a former run and after draining the liquid added 14 pints of water + 6 lbs granulated sugar, so as to see whether I could not get clearer and stronger. This time removed the [[strikethrough]] seve [[/strikethrough]] spent raisins and bottled them for galley. A [[underline]] former run Feb 17, [[/underline]] took 5 packages (15oz) "Sunmaid" raisins 2 lbs. gran. sugar 2½ lbs. beet sugar syrup, fermented well and after [[underline]] ten days was withdrawn. [[/underline]] Liquid somewhat darker than usually. [[vertical annotation in left margin]] All these experiments settle well in about 10 days if made with uncrushed seedless raisins.
