[[underline]] Aug 22. [[/underline]] (Sunday) Rain and cold. Remained home all day. [[underline]] George B here for luncheon.[[/underline]]

[[underline]] Aug 24.[[/underline]] Ditto. Long talk with [[underline]] Rossi in absolute necessity of acting on ofted repeated request to train assistants to help him in his work.  His department is now in a very dangerous condition.[[/underline]] He has no

understanding. Furthermore [[underline]] even when he is not ill he is slow in coming to a decision and still slower to act. Chicago [[/underline]] and other [[underline]] plants [[/underline]] are [[underline]] very rarely visited [[/underline]] and have to act on [[underline]] their own responsibility; [[/underline]] very often hesitatingly and most of the time [[underline]] without a feeling of coordination. Mistakes of omission [[/underline]] have cost our company [[underline]] many hundreds of thousands of Dollars [[/underline]] and [[underline]] this condition is so seriously threatening our future. Rossi has not grown up in action [[/underline]] from [[underline]] General Bakelite [[/underline]] to [[underline]] Bakelite Corporation.[[/underline]] His [[underline]] department [[/underline]] and that of [[underline]] Townsend are the weakest points [[/underline]] of [[underline]] our organisation [[/underline]]
