46/ sketches remind of [[underlined]] Lake Champlain. The air is bright [[/underlined]] and dry and [[underlined]] not too cold [[/underlined]] This seems a [[underlined]] marvelous Yachting country for cruising with a small boat, yet I see no yachts around. and no boats whatever except our own and 2-3 small cod-fishing boats. The channel is well buoyed but the buoys are not numbered hence ^[[hence]] require close attention in this torturous [[/underlined]] channel. Later on, more of these pine covered islands but in some ^[[instead of]] [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] [[underlined]] granite shores there is a gently sloping sandy beach with green grass below the trees and dense spar bush [[/underlined]] further inland. Then appear [[underlined]] a few ^[[wooden]] frame summer houses [[/underlined]] and pleasure boats become apparent Then [[underlined]] some larger sailing boats carrying freight [[/underlined]] and [[end page]] [[start page]] 47 either [[underlined]] schooner or ketch rigged [[/underlined]] They are characterised by a [[underlined]] large gaff and the leach of their sails is almost vertical; and the foot of the sail is loose and stretched on the boom [[/underlined]] by means of an [[double underlined]] outhaul. [[/double underlined]] The [[underlined]] head [[/underlined]] of the sail is also arranged with an [[underlined]] outhaul at the peak and hoops [[/underlined]] so that the sail can easily be furled ^[[furled]] [[underlined]] in a vertical bunch against the mast by handly the outhauls at the foot and the head. [[/underlined]] They [[underlined]] carry on their topmast an ample topsail which has in reality the shape of a lug sail. About 1/3 of the length of the yard of this lug - topsail a halyard is fastened which runs thru a block on the top of the mast while the tack runs down pointedly and vertically [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] so as to fasten [[/underlined]] [[strikethrough]] and st to [[/strikethrough]] it to [[underlined]] the boom of the mainsail [[/underlined]]

I use the word 'underlined' with a 'd' because that it is my understanding from the instructions. It appears to be a waste of time to reopen and edit just to remove the 'd' from the word 'underlined'. If I review a page and the transcriber does not add a 'd' I don't reopen to change.
