fact refused to use him in his work. - So I have once more the problem what to do with a [[underlined]] 12000$ a year man [[/underlined]] for whom we find no job to do.
[[underlined]] Redman [[/underlined]] brought him in and [[underlined]] thinks he [[/underlined]] is [[underlined]] very valuable [[/underlined]] so I shall ask him for advice. 
In April when I was in Florida [[underlined]] George B wired me Layman was disposed to leave [[/underlined]] as a good position was offered to him and wanted my advise At the time I wired George that I did not consider [[underline]] Layman [[/underlined]] indispensable nor necessary as far as I knew therefore let him go. When I returned to New York nothing was done and matter still pending and [[underlined]] George B and Redman thought [[/underlined]] there was much useful work [[strikethrough]] to do [[/strikethrough]] for [[underlined]] Layman [[/underlined]] and he was a very valuable person. - [[underlined]] Later developments do not seem to bear this out.
