Cool night. Temperature read this morning 60°F. Found a letter from [[red underlined]] George B [[/red underlined]] arrived last night [[red underlined]] very pessimistic as to future of Bakelite Corporation advises to sell out to Dupont thinks there is no future for molding mixtures, laminated our new paper and everything Research doing nothing. A lot of unnecessary men is Berlin, Wirth, Chamberlin, Brock, Schrimpe, Mory and others including Geo. Roll could go and never would be missed. His pessimistic letter is quite a shock to me. specially as I am remaining connected with the business so as to serve Georges interests and continue this as a family affair. [[/red underlined]] He evidently got the blues as every one of us is apt to get them  [[left margin in red]] Bakelite George B. pessimistic [[/left margin]]

once in awhile. [[red underlined]] Trouble with all these young men is that they only have encountered the easy side of life and are liable to exaggerate small objections and miss the necessity of optimism [[strikethrough]] to bridge [[/strikethrough]] because they never had to bridge a chasm of despair as I had to do. Feel considerably upset. [[/red underlined]] but will think it over. George because everything is not as rosy as he should like to see it thinks there is an easy way out. He should thank his stars to have found an unusually interesting problem of work and live up to it. Perhaps he is not well again  
Took a walk to [[strikethrough]] mo [[/strikethrough]] outside first time in many days to mail letter to Weger Rossi & Swan and made a short visit to Com. Munroe
