Told her [[underlined in red]] the great trouble with [[\underlined in red]] George Roll was that he did not seem to realise his limitations. We all have our limitations. But he [[underlined in red]] had the unfortunate habit of wanting [[/underlined in red]] to [[underlined in red]] meddle in matters for which he was not prepared [[/underlined in red]] or not yet prepared. That his knowledge or information on many matters was very backward, and that some way or another he did not seem to attempt to remedy this. He wrapped himself in a rather narrow field of interest, and when working with others in trying to show eagerness to meddle he simply made himself a bore. Some people are precocious and frequently their development then stops. Others kept on developing by self study, and broadening their interest in life. Some people developed very slowly and

not before a certain age. She herself was an example in her younger years when she seldom if ever read any books but trivialities and now had developed, for the sake of her children, in a more inquiring mind. Some plants develop rapidly and soon come to the end of their development, the slow growing oak does otherwise. That in the mean time [[underlined in red]] I still hoped [[/underlined in red]] to see George Roll [[underlined in red]] catch up gradually. [[/underlined in red]] That if he leaves it will be hard for him to find an occupation which brings him as much income as at present. That by the ramifying developments of Bakelite I hoped some day to find a post for him more congenial and more adapted to his limited abilities. In the mean time he is my personal custodian of 6 1/2 millions reserve invested funds for Bakelite. This in itself is a responsibility which I would hesitate to put in other hands
