Then Directors meeting. Leo Karpen invited to attend for his brother.  George B. made a vice-president and Secretary, Hays director and Treasurer. Geo Roll director. Redman not yet returned.
Then Executive Com. meeting, between myself, Geo B, Redman and Rossi. [[red underlined]] Told Rossi and Redman [[/red underlined]] that [[red underlined]] altho' I protested [[/red underlined]] against [[red underlined]] R&H claiming [[/red underlined]] a salary for services they did not render, this was not due to trying to save this money but to give it

to those of our men who deserved it and had done the work. I proposed that [[red underlined]] Karpen [[/red underlined]] and [[red underlined]] myself [[/red underlined]] should receive [[red underlined]] same compensation as last year. [[/red underlined]] Same for Berliss, George Roll and George Baekeland altho' [[strikethrough]] the latter [[/strikethrough]] [[red underlined]] this was unfair to George Baekeland. [[/red underlined]] But I [[red underlined]] prefer it this way so as not to to [[strikethrough]] have [[/strikethrough]] have Geo Roll find another grudge. [[/red underlined]] I told however that [[red underlined]] from now on George B should no longer be classed under the lowest salary,[[/red underlined]] which I had insisted upon as [[red underlined]] an example [[/red underlined]] to anyone [[red underlined]] who might think that Geo B as my son was favored [[/red underlined]] That this situation at present might lead to make outsiders believe that if his father did not allow him a larger salary it was that he did not deserve it, because [[strikethrough]] fathers [[/strikethrough]] [[red underlined]] Presidents of companies usually favored members of their family.
