[[underline]] May 17. [[/underline]] Conference with [[red underline]] Hays [[/red underline]] on pending matters, and about [[red underline]] profit sharing [[/red underline]] plan for employes. I explain him my views of non voting profit sharing bonds. Hays tells me confidentially that [[red underline]] Schleussner is not happy at R&H and that R&H may sell out or consolidate, and [[/red underline]] that his senior partner has asked him (Hays) to act as director while Gifford is in Europe so as to be able to attend to any duties which may come up. [[red underline]] But Hays will not [[/red underline]] accept if I do not consent. Told him I consent because I rely on his discretion and impartiality. This morning at dentist.
[[underline]] May 18. [[/underline]] At office all morning with George. Luncheon at Century 
At 5 P.M drove to [[red underline]] Larchmont Yacht Club for one hour. [[/red underline]] Opening of Yachting season. Cold weather but sunny

[[underline]] Sunday [[/underline]] 19. Busy writing all morning and putting things in shape. Cloudy and sultry altho thermometer is only 72°F
[[underline]] May 20 [[/underline]] Went to the [[red underline]] dentist [[/red underline]] (Fuller) He sees nothing in my upper front tooth which occasionally gives me a short but acute pain. Bores a hole near gums of my lower left under molar. - Quite some pain. Then to office etc.
May 21. Left for Bloomfield 7:30 A.M by motor car. Arrived there about 9:30 AM. Rain 
[[red underline]] Paper department [[/red underline]] is working on a new order for [[red underline]] 30000 lbs. [[/red underline]] for Formica. This is their second order. First was for 10000. lbs. [[red underline]] Wightman [[/red underline]] seems happier than I have seen him when I was here last and reports that on a first test where his chemist Hanson had been present 1000 lbs. sheets had been put in the press and all had come
